This is the cover illustration I drew for the 6th volume of refurbished GUNNM LO, officially titled GUNNM LastOrder NEW EDITION from Kodansha.

In September, four months after illustrating for the covers of the early five volumes, I took a rest from my series work and decided to draw remaining five of them.
Last time, I had successfully drawn five of them within half a month, which made me more confident. This time, however, a lot of private things and unexpected troubles happened, which delayed my starting the work for a while. For example, I got Painter's latest version, Painter 12, but I couldn't use some brush because of some changes.
I worried whether I could finish work properly, but I, a strong guy in the last minutes, was able to finish them again within half a month.
I also feel the production process of a color illustration goes a bit more effectively.
I'm still far from the secret principles of colors though...

The character for the 6th volume is Arthur Farrell.
This is the first time that Arthur was drawn in color.
At first I would like to show the characteristic scar on his right cheek and tried to draw a rough in rightward composition, but found out it didn't work because the pose of fitting an arrow on the bowstring would hide his mouth.
I believe that bow and arrows are indispensable when drawing Arthur in his youth, but if I show both his face and posing with the bow, its angle has to be quite limited.
I gave up showing the scar on his cheek after all, and decided on leftward composition.
So now five characters were consecutively drawn in facing-left composition. orz

Because the scene is the era of winter, I scattered snow, reduced color saturation a lot on finishing with PhotoShop, and expressed a chilly atmosphere.
